Once upon a time…there lived a beautiful Princess who sought to make the girls and boys of Danville, Illinois and surrounding areas’ dreams come true…
If you have been at any children’s birthday parties, or visited the Downtown Danville’s Farmer’s Market in the last year and a half, then you have most certainly ran into Danville’s own Party Princess, Bailey Williams. At just seventeen years old, Bailey started a business that reached over 500 Facebook likes within weeks. Suddenly, the teenager was booming in her own success. Bailey offers little girls (and boys) the chance to meet “real” Princesses and Princes from their favorite fairy tales.
Bailey grew up the youngest of 5 in a very talented, musical family. When I asked her what it was like to “grow up Williams”, she responded, “I am so fortunate to have grown up in the family I did. Our love for music and performing has made us so close.” Growing up in the theatre, sharing the stage with her family was and is extremely common. At around the age 6, her first show was Big River at the Beef House Dinner Theatre. “I wasn’t nervous or afraid once because I had both my parents and 2 of my sisters on stage right by my side.” Bailey got her first lead at the age of 10 performing along side one of her mentors and best friends, Julia Megan Sullivan. After she was in Ruthless for Danville Light Opera she was hooked and that following summer played Annie with her dad as Daddy Warbucks for the Lincoln Park Theatre Company. “I love performing and have for a long time, but it’s even better when I can share the stage with the people I love most, my family.”
Bailey grew up involved in many of our community theatres and along with her business, continues to be a part of that community. “I think Danville has grown so much in the past few years. A town that growing up I couldn’t wait to leave but has grown into a town that is very close to my heart, and I am proud to call it my hometown.” Bailey says that Downtown Danville is now one of her favorite places to go.
The now college student, who is majoring in teaching theatre, has found her love for inspiring children and using her talents to change lives. She wants to “teach children what I love most and inspire them to dream, no matter how outrageous the dream may seem. You can do anything you set your mind to.” She is also reaching for the stars and has future plans to turn her business into a Midwest franchise.
Bailey and I have had several theatrical interactions, and my daughters, Jillian and Kennedi, are convinced that she is the “real Elsa”. Last spring, Bailey and I shared the stage in the The Rocky Horror Show at Danville Area Community College. Bailey was the innocent Janet, and I played the crazy groupie, Columbia. Also joining us on stage, was Bailey’s boyfriend, Tyler Thompson (playing Brad), who she met on stage in It’s a Wonderful Life performed at Myers Dinner Theatre in Hillsboro, Indiana where Bailey frequents their stage.
All in all, Princess Bailey has had quite the start in theatre and in business, and I am proud to say that I know her and her family.
We need to keep our eyes on this one, Danville!! She just might help us to live out our happily ever after…
