Today I am starting a new adventure – I was offered a full scholarship to the Leadership Tomorrow program through Vermilion Advantage. I start the day and half long “getting acquainted” retreat this afternoon. According to the Vermilion Advantage website, one of the many purposes this program serves is to “create a pool of emerging and future leaders with a broad perspective of local issues; encourage civic responsibility; and equip leaders with the tools & knowledge to make a difference. Participants are encouraged to get involved in the area where they live, work and play.” I cannot tell you how excited I am to be a part of the 29th class.
This program is a four month long process in which we will meet every other Friday to discuss and visit different aspects of Vermilion County. I am specifically excited about the tours of local industries, health care day, and a ride along with a local police officer on duty. I really feel like this program gives the student a well rounded sense of the “behind the scenes” of VC.
For me, specifically, I cannot wait to pass along information to you, the reader. How cool is it that our county even offers something like this?! I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again…Vermilion County is headed in the right direction. We are building a solid foundation of leaders to continue to take us to the next level. I am so very proud to call this my home and to be a part of this class.
I will keep you all up to speed on my progression throughout the class! I can’t wait!
