Hello, friends! Welcome to my blog! My name is Nicole Miller, and I am so glad you found me! I am a mother of two little girls: Jillian (7) and Kennedi (4), a graduate of Danville Area Community College and Lincoln Christian University, and a lover of people and culture.
2015 proved to be a really tough year for me..,I went through a rough divorce which led to some hard times…but through the storm I found out a lot about myself and who I want to be. I have always had a passion for music and the arts, but over that rough year I found my love for my community.
There are a lot of amazing things happening in our county right now, and I want to be a part of it. That’s where this blog comes in. I want to bring you information about Danville and the surrounding area: the scene that you don’t even know that exists; the art and the talent that lives deep within our city and our roots. I want to show you the incredible people who are part of the change and growth that is occurring right before our eyes and how you can get involved.
Instead of focusing on the negativity – let’s start a peace movement! Can you imagine what we could do if we focused on the good and took action to keep it growing?
Fun facts about me:
I have never been shy – when my mom and I sang a duet at church and she cried – I was mad…until I had kids of my own. They sing…I cry.
My 1st stage was my grandparents’ hearth – 1 brick layer off the floor.
I took 15 years of dance lessons including ballet, tap, jazz, and tumbling at Marilyn’s Danceworks and The Laurel School of Dance. Through that I have found my love for choreography.
Scott Eisenhauer (yes, now the Mayor) talked me into my first upside down roller coaster at Six Flags in St. Louis at the age of 12.
I have been to Paris, France and London, England, but never to New York or California.
I am (or attempt to be) a poet and a song writer on top of my fascination with people’s stories. Someday I hope to write an autobiography.
I have performed on the Fischer Theatre stage with my mom and sister.
I survived the First Assembly of God church bombing in 1998 where I learned that life is short, so live each day to the fullest!
For my 19th birthday, I dug up a mud wrestling pit with a tiller.
My favorite role I have ever played as well as choreographed was Columbia in The Rocky Horror Show with the DACC Players.
My grandfather was an amazing organist who played for his own funeral by recording his music. <3
I can’t get through a single curtain call without crying. It doesn’t matter if I know the people or the show…my emotions get the best of me every single time.
I once interned on a radio morning show for a semester in Carbondale, Illinois, and I feel as if it has prepared me for my newest journey of being the host of News Makers on Monday and Friday mornings at 7:30 AM on 1490 WDAN as well as Bill Pickett’s protege!
I have incredible family and friends who are the best support system. My love to all of you.
I am very open to suggestion, and am always willing to improve, so comments and emails are so very welcome! Enjoy!
Peace & Love,
