Explore the Beauty of the Middle Fork

Enjoy interacting with Brian Stearns, photographer, as he presents his photos of wildlife that depend on the health of the Middle Fork River. Then learn about the threats Dynegy’s three coal ash pits present to the river, the wildlife that depend upon it, and the economic development potential of the region. Explore with what you can do to keep the river healthy and safe.
About the Photographer:
Brian Stearns is a wildlife photographer specializing in wild animals in their natural habitats. The Middle Fork River and its environs is one area where he concentrates his attention. Brian is the President of Champaign County Audubon, and he and his wife, Susan, are both active in the Middle Fork Audubon Society. Brian is a featured speaker before birding organizations, and his presentations have delighted volunteers and staff in the Champaign County Forest Preserve District.
About the Hosts:
Eco-Justice Collaborative is working with Prairie Rivers Network and Sierra Club to ensure that Dynegy is required by the Illinos EPA to move its toxic waste out of the floodplain of the Middle Fork, the State’s only National Scenic River.
