I can’t believe it’s been an entire year since I had this crazy idea to start up a blog about Vermilion County. What a year it has been! Starting this blog took me down a path I never imagined and has put me in a place in my community where I feel like I really can help make a difference.

Danville – A Creative Community
One of my favorite things about Vermilion County is that there is talent EVERYWHERE. There are so many opportunities for artists of many kinds to release their talents out into our community. From theatre to poetry to painting to performing, surely there is a creative outlet here for you…and if there’s not, there are a LOT of people who will support you in starting one.Continue Reading
Downtown Danville
One of my favorite parts of Danville is the downtown area. It is actually the specific place that changed my entire attitude about Danville and made me open my eyes to what is really happening here. It was last summer when I really saw the change. The Summer Sounds concerts began to grow bigger and better…Culture Shock brought in a whole new world right in our back yard…new businesses began to pop up that were working hard to make a difference in the downtown area.
As I sat down to plan out this series, I knew I had to designate a day to let everyone else see what I saw and continue to see about our amazing Downtown Danville. I believe this is the epicenter of change for our community.Continue Reading
Check Out the “Our Danville” App!
Through my part-time job with Neuhoff Media, I have been spending a lot more time with a side of the City of Danville that I have never really gotten to know. I have learned so many things about this great city in the short five months that I have had this job, and I decided it was important that you know these things as well! I can’t wait to share some of the things I have learned with you! So I am kicking the week off with a new app that recently launched that makes key communication SUPER EASY: Our Danville.Continue Reading

Reagan’s Rescue
Today marks the 10th year since the Williams family lost their “sunshine,” Reagan Emery Williams. Reagan was a victim of shaking baby syndrome, and the family has come together to start an organization in her name that exists to spread awareness and intervene in the lives of families and children at risk.
Ripper the Clown – Jake Aurelian
On Halloween of 2012 an angry, over the top, comedic clown was birthed out of the pages of author and comedian Jake Aurelian‘s books. Ripper the Clown, a dead wrestler, has made an appearance in every one of Jake’s books…and his headquarters? The Fischer Theatre in Downtown Danville, Illinois.
update.
Hey, friends. I apologize that I have been MIA for the last month. Life took off and I have been dealing with the always evolving transition of change. So I thought I’d give you all a little update on what I’ve been doing.
May 24, 1998
The morning of May 24, 1998 at 3:00 a.m. my eighth grade class rolled into Catlin Grade School from our class trip in Washington D.C. I was every bit of tired, but excited to be home to see my family and friends. I had a tight-knit group of friends from my church youth group, named “Extreme Faith,” at First Assembly of God in Danville. Continue Reading
Frozie’s Fat Calf Frozen Yogurt – Brett Andrews

“The older I get, the more often I find that frozen yogurt fixes most things.” ~ Whitney Myer
I couldn’t agree more with Whitney…and luckily we have a fantastic local business right in our back yard to achieve happy status! Brett Andrews owns and operates Frozie’s Fat Calf Frozen Yogurt right here in Danville.
