ROCKIN’ FOR THE TRAIL at The City Center!
July 9, 2016 @ 7:00 pm
Come out to enjoy the Brat Pack on the Yettke & Rapp Stage at The City Center and bid on amazing auction items while celebrating and raising funds for the Kickapoo Rail Trail. 100% of proceeds go to the construction of the Rail Trail! 19+ to enter.
The Kickapoo Rail Trail is a historic 24.5 mile recreational trail that links Champaign and Vermilion Counties in east central Illinois, from Urbana on the west to Kickapoo State Park on the east. The Champaign County Forest Preserve District and Vermilion County Conservation District will own and manage the portion of the trail within their respective counties.
Since 1996, The Brat Pack has broken attendance and bar sales records all over the Midwest with the finest blend of party attitude and hit 80s tunage: new wave, hair bands, one-hit-wonders, dance, classic rewind, and hip-hop. If it happened in the 80s, or if it should have happened in the 80s, the Pack is all about it.
· The trail will traverse some of the most diverse ecosystems in this part of the state, including woodland, prairie, and wetland.
· Trailheads will be developed near several communities along the route to provide parking and public access to the trail.
· Scenic areas with benches and educational interpretive signs will offer rest stops for cyclists and hikers.
Kickapoo Rail Trail will be developed on an historic rail line that was constructed in 1869 under ownership of the Indianapolis, Bloomington and Western Railway. The trail will also parallel the path of the interurban rail line that ran between Urbana and Danville in the early 1900s. Before the time of railroads, attorney Abraham Lincoln traveled nearly the same route on horseback in the mid-1800s as he traveled the 8th Judicial Circuit in Illinois.
