Windows are open, the trees and flowers are in full bloom, and the sounds of those early morning lawn mowers are filling our neighborhoods…it must be spring. I hope this post finds my readers all nice and twitterpated this season. I apologize for not posting anything in awhile…life has been very busy and I have been trying to decide on some changes that will be happening around POMC this year.Continue Reading
I’ve been preaching about the rising of the music scene in Vermilion County for over a year now. I’ve met some pretty incredible musicians, poets, artists….my people. But one of the other fun things about being a part of this scene is running into old friends.
Something I have learned A LOT about over the last couple of years and that I have recently MAJORLY incorporated into my life is volunteering. So many people want to be involved in our community but are not quite sure where to start. I’m here to help you! I have a few different opportunities for you to get involved with this summer that I am excited to tell you about! And if my projects do not interest you, but you still want to get involved, I can most definitely point you in the right direction!Continue Reading

The blog is back up and going full speed ahead, and you, my loyal reader, are really making it happen! There’s a TON more stuff coming up in February, both here on POMC, and on my News Makers radio show on 1490 WDAN…so I thought I’d clue you in to what is coming your way!Continue Reading
Something I talk about often on my radio show and here on the blog is the never ending pool of talent that is harvested right here in Vermilion County. It is ALMOST to the point that you can go somewhere every single night of the week and hear live music…and I expect it will be that way in the not-so-distant future. One of the musicians making it happen is Dalton Halls.Continue Reading
Have you guys heard the new Ed Sheeran music?! Holy cow! This guy is not only incredible at dropping a beat that everyone wants to be a part of, but his lyrics are written to shape and inspire the listener. I’ve always been a fan of this guy and am so stoked that he has some new stuff.Continue Reading
One of my favorite things about Vermilion County is that there is talent EVERYWHERE. There are so many opportunities for artists of many kinds to release their talents out into our community. From theatre to poetry to painting to performing, surely there is a creative outlet here for you…and if there’s not, there are a LOT of people who will support you in starting one.Continue Reading
One of my favorite parts of Danville is the downtown area. It is actually the specific place that changed my entire attitude about Danville and made me open my eyes to what is really happening here. It was last summer when I really saw the change. The Summer Sounds concerts began to grow bigger and better…Culture Shock brought in a whole new world right in our back yard…new businesses began to pop up that were working hard to make a difference in the downtown area.
As I sat down to plan out this series, I knew I had to designate a day to let everyone else see what I saw and continue to see about our amazing Downtown Danville. I believe this is the epicenter of change for our community.Continue Reading
Through my part-time job with Neuhoff Media, I have been spending a lot more time with a side of the City of Danville that I have never really gotten to know. I have learned so many things about this great city in the short five months that I have had this job, and I decided it was important that you know these things as well! I can’t wait to share some of the things I have learned with you! So I am kicking the week off with a new app that recently launched that makes key communication SUPER EASY: Our Danville.Continue Reading
On Halloween of 2012 an angry, over the top, comedic clown was birthed out of the pages of author and comedian Jake Aurelian‘s books. Ripper the Clown, a dead wrestler, has made an appearance in every one of Jake’s books…and his headquarters? The Fischer Theatre in Downtown Danville, Illinois.
